I has the same issue. I made a sidemount plate out of my old fender mount plate, my OEM bracket and my axle cover. I'll post pics or you can search for my write up from last week.

Or install a r/t/b module with dot led (Custom Dynamics) approved turns sigs and you wont need the led strip in the fender. The strip is not dot anyway. Dont get me wrong - all these bikes are sweet!

Go for frenched.

Yes that stealth look would look awesome. I might have to find someone that does mail-order to get that kind of look.

Found that post and pic of your bike. Nice. How did you get that to work with your axle cover?

Nice job!
I like that. Here's a place that makes some very cool tail lights, but probably very pricey.

Seems like I checked and they were around $800 if I remember correctly. My guy charged me $500 to do the work and the led light was around $75 from Drag. Since I was going with the Klockwerks fender I looked into thier stuff. Their recessed lighted license plate frame is $199 and their led tail light is $299. So for about the same money I got a smooth custom job!

I took the axle cover and cut a slit in the end that allowed the mouting bracket to slide in. Then I used another piece of the bracket to anchor it to inside the plate. I used a piece of diamond plate to reinforce the cover and drilled a hole through and ran a bolt through to secure everything. I'm gonna get some LED tag lights to make it legal. Here's how it looks inside:

Good job. That turned out great. I have untill about Christmas time to decide what I'm going to do. I don't think what you did would work with my axle covers. Mine have a mounting screw in the back of it. I would have to go from the bottom or top.
