I ordered it, sent it back. The reason I sent it back is because my rear end is lowered one inch and they say it may get dented if you hit bottom. Also, I didn't care for the fit and feel of the piece.

I don't doubt your word... but I just don't see the mechanical issue between the cover and the bottoming...

Regards.

NO WAY!! does your bike being lowered have anything to do with this cover. Takes about ten minutes to install at most. Not bad for less than $75.00.

I'm with pococj and waterhog. If you have the funds, go with the whole inner primary. At the ends, you'll still see the black one underneath (very front of primary and under the oil tank). if you use the cover. Plus, the cover will sit slightly higher than the outer primary. It's obvious to me when it's a cover and when it's actually a chrome inner. I think the chrome inner is a GREAT look and mine will have one soon. No cover for me, thanks!!

I've considered that same cover, heard others say the edges rust and the chrome is cheap.I do want a chrome inner, but don't want something cheap looking or of iffy quality.Any more feed-back on longevity of this part would be helpfull.

I know where you are coming from. Sometimes add ons just look like... well add ons. I would much prefer to have a full Chrome Inner but I hate to take apart something that ain't broken though, so it's not really the cost but the process that concerns me.

I thought I stumbled onto something new but apparently alot of you guys have been down this path already.

Thanks for all the responses so far...

Mike NY.......The whole R & R takes about 2 hours...If you have the large Sockets (which I didn't..but I do now) 1 3/8 for compensator nut...You will also need a Torque Wrench that reads in ft. lbs.....Incidentally you might need a small propane torch to degrade old Lock-tite on compensator nut.....My new primary came with seals and bearing..I used old primary gasket and saved $36.00....and no leaks.....Oh yeah you wil also need a new "O" ring where inner primary joins motor case...So If you have some tools and are a little mechanically inclined (like myself) than go for it.......The look is worth it ....Jeff

P.S. I'm not a big fan of covers either....I paid top $$ for a most exellant bike....I'm not gonna start cutting corners now......

Mike---get what you want dude. It's obvious you value this forum's opinion; but get what YOU want. I have the cover and the chrome is of good quality and there is no rust. I can see the black in certain at the right angle but it looks good to me (kinda like a backdrop) My buddy has rust on his chrome (not covers) because he doesn't get all the water off when drying. There are people who know it's a cover and there are those who I have to tell them it's a cover. It does sit a little higher; so a mechanically sound person would know the difference. I bought it because I wanted to spread my money to more parts. Worked for me!
