I just replaced the heads on my 92 custom softail stock 80" evo. The heads were rebuilt as such:
bead blasted and have new manley intake valves and new rowe exhaust valves, new comp cam valve springs and s&s spring collars installed along with new james gaskets valve guide seals.
About to reinstall the rocker covers but need to know if my pushrods need to be changed? They seem to be longer out of the heads than with the original heads. I'm new to engine work but think I'm going to need some adjustable pushrods. Can someone confirm this and if so steer me to some info on how to adjust them?
The same pushrods should fit. Do you have them in the right holes? Adjustable pushrods are adjustable so them can be changed without removing the heads.
They are def in the right holes. They are color coded so it was easy to keep track of which goes where. I was under the impression that these heads just needed to be bolted on but now I'm having trouble getting the rocker covers bolted all the way down to the heads. Am I missing something here? I'll recheck and make sure the bolts im using to tighten down the covers are in the right places I just didnt want to start cranking on the bolts to tighten them as they are already giving me heavy resistance going in and the covers are still a quarter inch from the heads.
