I`m trying to follow this thread, and I`m guessing the engine in question is a TC Motor? I don`t know what year a Fatty Lo is...

Model and Year?????

Also wondering why people must answer a question with a question.

The answer is always the same....Because the OP wants to do it.

Look at your registration, do you see an engine number on it?

Very few states do this anymore.

2010. The engine in question is the SE 120cu

After thinking on it for a while and with some of the advice I received here (thanks everyone) I doubt I will go with a new engine. It is simply to much $ and the consensus here seems to be that putting that engine in a bike for street use is mostly a waste, as I probably wouldn't take advantage of it fully.

I will mostly likely look into a 103/110 upgrade with new cams and stuff. So if anyone wants to chime in on more modest upgrades I would like to hear it.

Thanks again everyone for helping a newbie.

Thanks for making me hate my state even more, lol Cali still puts the engine numbers down.

as for a previous post, the problem with running a non-original engine in an allready registered bike (IN CALIFORNIA) is that if you wreck it, even if it's not your fault no ones insurance will cover the bike, it's one of those freaken laws that makes you say WTF, if it's your fault your insurance company will decline the claim, if it's someone elses fault their insurance will decline the claim, and even if you have full coverage your insurance will decline the claim. don't get me wrong people do it all the time. inlcuding me!

However with this in mind if you went with a crate motor like S&S or REV-TECH or any of the others, they come with a certificate and you can get that engines number on your title with a lot of paper work. the case I'm always in is I replace the motors with other factory motors out of wrecked bikes and don't have any paperwork on them. Can't wait till I get to Texas!

Now for the OP, I would mod that engine, as said before good power in the right rpms will feel better then crazy power out of reach in the rpm band. figure out where you want your power and get her done.
