Default New Engine?

So with the nasty weather just around the corner (thanks Canada, we all know that is where the cold weather comes from )

I have been thinking/dreaming about mods to my Fatty Lo.
Currently I have the SERT and SE Heavy breather along with the V&H Pro-Pipe.

Now the way I see it, I can pony up for a mod kit or just buy a new Fraking BAD *** engine.

Any thoughts? Opinions?
Anyone drop a new engine in their softail?

Why would one replace a new and perfectly good engine? I don't really get it.

That is a very good question.
What I don't wanna do is lay down a bunch of $ on a kit only to later regret not doing xyz while I was at it and the plunking down more $ to have xyz done.

So if the goal is to have a bad *** muscle bike (yes I know a sport bike is faster) then in the long run is it better to just get a new engine or add/mod **** here and there?

Plus there isn't anything wrong with having a backup engine?

The question would be registering the bike with the new cases legally. If you can do that, go for it. If not, beef up the whole thing and keep the stock cases.

So that you can say your bike is faster than your friends... why else?

OK call me ignorant, but how would changing the engine on an already registered bike present a legal problem? Its not like he's building a bike from scratch and would need receipts for all the major components, like the engine, to prove ownership.

If you can afford a new high performance engine, I say you should go for it.

And if your looking for a place to park the old engine. I have a brand new (bought it last week) riding mower with a one lung Briggs & Stratton 18HP engine in it.
I wouldn't mind storing your old engine under its hood, would take a lot less time to cut the lawn.
Give me more free time for bike riding.

Spend the money that you would for a new engine and buy a used R1 or something like that. You can go stupid fast.....or cruise comfortably.

+1 on that thought. I did not really consider the optoin of going to anothr engine and pulling my stock motor. I shold have just went to a JIMS 120 and been done with it- Now at a 103 and still looking for a weee bit more. 2 frinds have 110 CVO bikes and the have torque and cruise really well. I can't afford a CVO bike even a 2008 low mile RK - would be really nice though.
