I have a 1998 Heritage Springer and I'm looking to upgrade the engine and trans. I was thinking of doing a S&S 124 but didn't know if that would be to much for a springer, or should I just put a kit in the EVO.
I think you should be super careful,
Springer front braking has serious limitations, they are made to be 'nostalgic', look slow, feel slow, move slow and let everybody enjoy the beauty of it.
If you get any power, you must consider braking.
A better direction is to slow the engine more and get foot clutch .. that would be a true Heritage springer .
Yeah, I ditched the 124 thing. I might do something to the stock engine later but for now I'm just going to do some Gangster Apes and some Fat Daddy 50 spoke wheels.

I agree the springer has horrible front brakes but I definitely dont think they feel slow or move slow. My bike can carve through some corners (just ask whats left of my floorboards) and burns the tire with the best of em'
I really want to add something to my X-bones but Im worried about the front end myself. I dont want to pull the front wheel off the ground and have something crack or snap on the way down.
