Default Pics of new emblem!

I am replacing my tank emblems this evening. Putting on the '61-'62 emblem.

Looking for some tricks to the trade on emblem removal. Its on my new paint so I want to be extra careful. My plan is to attack it with the heat gun just as I did the reflectors. Is there any other best practices that can be shared?

Per request! For the record the '61-'62 emblem is class!

I will get better pics.

I used heat and fishing string, you can also use dental floss.

I've done it two ways with equally good results.
1) Use a heavy piece of monofilament line (garrote strength, not trout). Run it slowly from one end of the emblem to the other. This will lift it. Wrap the ends of the line around some dowel to save your hands.
2) Preheat a little with a hairdryer, and use a credit card the same way.

Good luck.

I used dental floss and used a sawing, back and forth motion while pulling. Then use goo gone to clean up residue. Good luck and be careful...

No matter what you do you're left with a job to cleanup. I used goo-gone for the leftover residue but it still took a while.

I would suggest removing it as close to the paint as you can. If you can leave the foam backing on your deluxe wings it will be helpful for the next application,(in case you want to sell them or reapply them.

Normal two-sided autobody tape is not really thick enough to reapply the emblems if you've removed that thick foam tape the manufacturer uses.

I used heat gun, a lint free rag, goo gone, and a flat head

Thanks for the tips gentlemen! Looks like I have everything that you all have suggested. I will just add some patients and a gentle hand.
