I have written a couple of post here trying to educate myself before buying a Fatboy. Well I found one 10 minutes from where I live for a great price 10k with 6400 miles in great condition. Super excited about the find and now I need a few things, tire being one of them. After reading this forum I find tire choices are like color choices, different styles for different people. I think I am going to go with the Metzler Me 880 tires. I noticed that they offer a 210 for the rear. The bike is 95% stock. Would a 210 fit on the rear of the 07 Fatboy?
I know 10 mm doesn't sound like a lot but in the catalog the price is the same. When looking at it from the rear, can you tell a difference? This should fit on the factory wheel correct?
yes ...i have people ask me if its a 240....it will be close to the belt but i have had no issues at ALL......i also have air ride so you will get belt flop more, when you raise and lower it cuz the belt will get lose or tight depending on ride height still no rub....go for it, sticky tire in the rain, and dry it corners on rails...it don't last long but safety over price for me......7 to 7500 out the back tire, sides are ok but with a fatty on the rear the middle goes quick, front still looks new so proly double that...oh side walls are lower profile to, look at stock and look at my sig...its only by 5mm but you can tell
Its a tight squeeze, but it will fit, Metzler calls it a 'stage 1' upgrade.
They rate tire fit in stages, stage 1 means it will fit a stock rim with NO modifications to the bike.
Stage 2 means a stock rim with some modifications to the bike.
Stage 3 all bets are off and you'll have to virtually rebuild the rear along with getting a new wheel to fit it in.
The side wall was a slight concern going from a 55 to a 50. Does it still fill the fender? I will keep the same height so I didn't want it to look like there is a gap between the tire and the fender. Does anyone have a close up picture of a Fatty rear end with a 210 with factory height? Side picture and rear picture would be great.
