this was the only place I could find to post this question: my friend has a 1999 Fatboy that has 2 spark plugs per jug (for a total of 4 plugs). He bought it with very few miles on it and he believes it to be stock. Has anybody seen this type of engine and what can you tell me about it? The purpose for this?? It has a carbureator fuel system. also he has a separate gas cap for each side of the engine. Wierd??
thanks for any history anybody can supply. If you need pics, i can supply them, probably. Pork (I may be a hangaround on this forum but have been "hanging around" for a year on the CVO forum under "Porkypig")
my pops had a superglide back on the 80's with the same double sparkplug setup. It definitely wasnt stock. I recall him sending heads out to Cali to have the work done on them. Whatever he had done to it, it was a real screamer!!
Alot of Guys in the 70-80 would Double plug Pans and Shovels to get a more complete burn/ increase gas mileage/ etc.(NOT STOCK)
As for Separate Gas cap for each side- there's a crossover tube that feeds the gas from
one to the other. That's the way they built/came them back in the day.
So, it appears the heads on this engine may not be stock. Maybe they were worked over to improve the performance. I will let him know and he can monitor this site in case anybody else has some more info. thanks.
