Mikuni's use gas. It's the $ you pay for the giddeeup go. But it's
like running a Holley 780 on a small blk Chevy. Made to run w/your
foot in the intake manif.
My last Mikuni was on a 1984 Shovel, 80" 440 Sifton Cam, Mikuni 40
and Cycleshack pipes. Ran great . . . Fast . . . 35 mpg at best.
My Heritage only gets about 40 (88" 203's and T/H)
That's with the stk Kehin & 200 Mn Jet. Plugs clean & pipe (reasonably)
clean.
If I remember right the choke installtion, and milage problem is mentioned in the Mikuni Tuning Manual. Set it up that way and I'll bet your problem is solved.
