I just installed the Samson exhaust yesterday and I rode my bike to work this morning (beautiful day in Socal). I noticed some pop on deceleration that I did not have with the stock pipes. I planned on getting a tuner in a few month. Does this mean I need to get one earlier than planned? I have the stock air filter.
Are you running them baffled or non baffled? One thing that can cause popping on decel with Samson's is if the pipes are not sealed well where the fishtails slip on. I always use Ultra Copper (get it at auto zone) on all the connections where the clamps are. Or it could be your tune. It is hard to say without being there. Also, did you use new exhauist gaskets?
My fatboy pops when I accelerate hard and let off quick, but I've only got slip on SE on stock pipes. I understand that it's unburned fuel igniting outside the cylinder...my wife loves the pop. I told her I was going to make it stop when I got a new A/C and exhaust and she was disappointed...she's got to have her "pop". I told her the engine runs hotter in lean conditions...she doesn't care.

Mine are baffled and I used new gaskets. I will try your suggestion with Ultra Copper. Thanks Drew.
Lots of good advice. Mine did the same thing when I installed on my Fatty last year. Rule #1 - Retorque everything. Pay real close attention to the flanges at the jugs. My rear one was a PIA. Once I got all the connections sealed up, the popping became almost non-exsistant. Good luck,
Heat is probably the biggest enemy of any engine!!! I'd get an A/C and fuel management system ASAP. Also, synthetic oil will cool things down just a tad as it coats better and therefor there is less friction between moving parts.
