You guys were exactly right. Leak was at the rubber gasket under the dash. Pulled the dash (the one acorn nut you mentioned), covered the dash with soft towels and bungeed it to the tach. I tightened the hex bolts as they were a little loose and dried everything off. The bottom of the rubber gasket looks a little jacked-up but I'm going to see if the tightening of the hex bolts works before I replace it. Really appreciate all the sound advice!

Good stuff.....

For some reason HD recommends replacing those 11 or so hex bolts during a gasket change... I can't imagine why, but keep that in mind.

Looks like a trip to the HD dealership for a new gasket as it's still leaking. Gonna have to siphon some gas as when I went to loosen the hex bolts to pull the gasket gas poured out...I'm preparing myself for a mouthful of unleaded! I'll ask about replacement of the hex bolts when I'm there. Thanks.

Do you have a stand you can put it on? If so that would level it out and maybe you won't loose any gas. Either way good deal and glad it was an easy fix.

Siphoned the gas easily. Didn't even drink any. Think I need to purchase a manual. Pulled the hex bolts, started lifting the metal piece out that holds the gasket in place on the tank and found way too much stuff connected inside. Wasn't sure how to proceed so I put it back in place, adjusted the gasket and tightened the metal piece down. Afraid to put too much torque on those hex bolts. If I stripped one I'd really have a problem on my hands. Guess I could fill it with gas and check for a leak but I bet I still have one.
