My Uncle is in his mid 50's and has two Harleys. A sportster and some other road king type. He was riding home from a poker run a few weeks back and got too close to the shoulder around a curve and hit the gravel on the edge of the highway and lost it. The guys behind him said he flipped head over heels a couple times and launched into some deep grass in a ditch. They had a hard time finding him and he was unconcious when they got to him. They lifeflighted him to U of I Hospitals and he was there for three weeks. Now he is in a rehab center until after Christmas.
He had multiple skull fractures (no, no helmet), two shattered ankles, broken leg, broken collar bone, broken scapula, broken wrist, fractures in his neck and back, broken ribs and a collapsed lung and a lot of lacerations. But, he is alive. He was talking in the helo on the way and was awake from that point on. He will be in a neck and back brace for months and casts on his legs for a few more weeks. He has been bed ridden since the accident. Can't put weight on shattered ankles. It will be a long long rode back...
Had me thinking of selling mine, but I decided no way. I love my NT.
Prayers for a full recovery.
Stay away from the shoulder. He more than likely had a brain fart and forgot to watch where he wanted to go, not where he was.
