Default What mod to do first?

Hey guys, i have a 2007 heritage softail with se stage 1 ac and v/h longshots and i'm looking do some engine mods. I want to add cams( S&S 583's) and eventually either a 103 or 106 big bore kit. Which mod should i do 1st in order to get the most for my money/ pleasure factor, cams with a tune or the big bore kit? If i do cams 1st, what should expect to pay for install and what other parts do i need? are high lift valve springs required? thanks.

You should start with the bars, get some apes .. leave the engine to the Japs

My experience is that you probably want to do the cams last. The cams show their worth when you have head work and bigger CI's. Most will tell you that the cams alone won't do a whole lot and may even hurt performance at certain RPM ranges.

Any cams that you look at that require different springs should tell you that in the description of the cam.

Save your money and do the 103 with cams all at once. Way cheaper doing it all at once than piece mill...

Do it all at once. that is the most logical choice. If you cannot due to financial reasons, save until you can.

I'm with do it all at once. I know no one likes to sit on a pile of cash when there could be fun happening, but reality is, you need to redyno or retune your bike everytime you make big changes like cams or big bore. If you were to do one now and pay for the tune and then another in two months and pay for another tune, the cost of the second tune could be a nice bunch of chrome or powder added to your ride.

Thanks for the info. If u were only going to do one mod and nothing else, which mod would be more beneficial. Some people say to do the cams and others have told me to do the big bore kit. I'm confused and don't want to waste money on something without any hp gains.

You will get gains from either one. I did my cams first, and then the big bore the next year. Get EZ adjust pushrods so you do not have to take the top end off. Othersied, if you remove the top end you might as well do the big bore.
