Default Buying bolts?

I bought a set of passenger floorboards off ebay(50602-00a), but they didn't come with the bolts to attach to the frame. The instructions I downloaded show this missing bolt to be part no. 4310. I've tried searching quickly and this number doesn't seem to work. I haven't tried the HD site itself, just tried google and plugged the number into Surdyke and got nada.

Where do you guys get misc. bolts?

I also noticed that my lay down plate holder has a bolt missing (temp plate still on, haven't put the real thing on yet), can I get a replacement(I didn't' install the lay down holder, so I don't' know where it's from)?

The dealer ship can get most of those. The number only shows up in the parts break down book, not the accessory parts.

Your local hardware store is the best place for the common stuff, like that plateholder bolt.

Ace Hardware has saved me a ton of money and they have a huge selection with chrome bolts. Hd would take a week for a simple bolt. Most hd sizes are odd lengths. .25 and .75 and not .50. But most are th standard and not metric.

Most cities have a local fastener shop too (check the Yellow Pages). If a home improvement or hardware store doesn't have them, a fastener shop will normally have anything you could think of in chrome or stainless

I have no problem running down to fastenal or the hardware store, I just would like to know what size they are supposed to be? The plate bolt is easy, I've got three others to compare, but I don't have a clue as to what size I need for the the floorboard.

Odds are you'll get nowhere trying to figure out what that number means on the HD web site.
They have never listed a parts breakdown of any 'kit' or 'assembly' that I know of.
Hell they don't list all of the stuff that's in the accessories parts catalog.
The back pages of HD's parts manuals list all the hardware, by part # along with a generic description, but I tried looking that one up and didn't find it listed in the one I have.
A friendly parts counter person at a dealer on the other hand should be able to look it up for you in a minute and tell you everything you need to know about it.
You never know, they 'might' have some in stock because its a common sense practice (read cheaper) for any manufacturer to use the same fastener for several different things.
If nothing else they should be able to tell you what you need to know to get one at a local hardware store.
Just make sure you get good quality bolts (grade 5 or better) for something like that or they could break off with embarrassing if not dangerous results.

Thanks,

I'll have to stroll in the the local stealer and ask...man I hate them.
