Default Docking hardware bolts

After extending my hardware out to attach bags and bar, my 2.25 length chrome bolts only utilize 3/4 the threads inside the mounting plate under the fender. Will this be sufficiant? A 2.5 bolt will be exactly to the end of the threads in the plate but I can't find any button head bolts that length or 2.75 anywhere except special order online. I do have summit racing a few miles away and can get polished 12pt stainless at 2.5 and 2.75 but I'm trying to make it look the same. Thoughts?

Does the dealer sell the right length?

Ace Hardware is a good bet.
But generally, if you have the threads of a bolt into a plate or nut,, equal too or greater then the diameter of the bolt your good.
So 1/2" needs 1/2",, 3/4 needs 3/4,, etc,,
Those are 5/16" right? Your almost 2 and a 1/2 times diameter, Your good.

Those plate studs are long like that to access the strut as a guide,, not for extra holding power.
Some Locktite won't hurt anything,,

It's 3/8-16. Dealer can only get button head to 2 I think he said. Chrome regular bolts he can get longer. Ace has regular chrome. Not the buttonhead. I can order online but its like 5 bucks a bolt plus shipping. I was just unsure if the 2.25 going in more then halfway would be safe with threadlocker.

Your call.
If it was my issue I wouldn't worry a bit. I'd just keep an eye out for the bolts I want.
If you know somebody in the Machine Shop business,, ask them about nut's an bolt's and strength an such.

Thanks guys. Kinda had a second thought when I went into the garage and saw my iron headed SBC hanging off the tips of four 3/8 bolts on the engine stand.... The button head bolts I have are grade 5 but should be more then efficient for what I'm doing.
