Default Labriola suicide shifter slop mod

I installed a Labriola set up on my 00 flstf 6 years ago and have gained a bunch of slop end play I guess from the weight and non support of the shifter. now shift rod is rubing the inner primary. my solution I cut a gate/bracket out of stainless mounted the bracket to the tranny bolt and it is all worked out taking the weight ( pool ball as shift ****) off the shift spline.

others with the Labriola kit have the shifter rubbing the inner primary?

Apparently others do have the same issues. I've seen it mentioned in many threads, and I've only been here for a couple of weeks. Because of this, I'll be going with a Tank Shift this winter. Seems that the leveraged weight of the shifter is damaging the shift arm bearing.

Thats a great idea man... If you can get us some pictures of you setup. Mine don't move much but I'm not running the pool ball anymore that suckers pretty heavy.

I've been told they are tough on the shaft seal because they tend to bounce around. This sounds like a good bit of PM to avoid that.

I was afraid of having the same issue. Mine's not a LaBroilla but it is the same idea. This is what I did. The play and the bouncing around on the straight shift arm was way too much for me. I fabbed up the bracket for the "tank shifter" and went that route with much satisfaction!

I've got about 10,000 miles on my shifter and have had no problems. No slop or vibrations. I guess I got one of the good ones. But I'm changing it out this winter. I'm installing an ole school type shifter on the tank. Parts have been ordered; let the modding begin.
