Duece is awesome, my Standard is awesome, Wideglide is awesome......Ah h*ll.
When I bought my bike, I sat on the Standard, Wideglide, and the Vrod and came up with the Standard. Vrod just didn't have the style I was looking for, Wideglide was to long, so I went with the Standard. Good luck with whatever you choose. I'm sure you'll love it.
Hello, I´m a new HD biker, just bought a 06 Deluxe a couple of months ago. I like the bike, but I´m 22 and want something less classic and a bit more agressive,
By the looks I like the Softail Duece, the Softail Standard or the Dyne Wide Glide.
Can anyone help me make a better decision about one of those three?
Thanks o lot!!

Ya know, I've owned two FL softails.. I loved them both. If I had the choice of these three.. I'd be in the mood for something different, for different sake.. I'd give a wide glide a ride if I could to see how different that suspension is.. It is to me a bit more agressive looking just raw bike than the softails. The whole concept of the softails is to look nostalgic. The dyna group is just about being a bike. Plus it's a different engine setup.. rubbermounted w/o the balancers.. I think that's kinda cool. I have seen and do like the low-rider style rear fender on the wide glide rather than the stock WG fender though.. The bobtails just don't appeal to me.
But I also agree with above.. You don't have to go the expense to get out from under your deluxe. You can trick out a deluxe to add quite a bit more "testosterone" to the look. Case in point.. The Sept 06 ride of the month. ----> I think the wheels are a bit much, but the concept is black with just a little chrome here and there.. low and mean. pretty cool.
Thanks for all your comments.. I´m still in the dilema, I went to my HD local dealer and the only similar ride they have is a softail custom. which I didn´t feel very comforable with the handle bar position, I felt its to close, so I couldn´t physically compare any of my top choices. then I saw a pretty customized standard at the HOG meeting this thursday, and this guy told me he had spend over 9k until now and here in mexico the standard is around 19,500 so adding those extra 9k, would be 28,500 and the SE Springer here is 31k so it ain´t that big difference. But I think buying an SE gets out all the fun of customizing your HD.
But I have to make a decision soon cause my old man is keeping my Deluxe hahaha,, and I don´t want to be left without a bike.
You mentioned Mexico.. How are the roads where you're riding?
Just going on hearsay that the roads aren't the greatest.. If so, might be a plus for the (possibly, unconfirmed) better rear suspension on the wide glide again.
You'd really need to ride to compare.
yeahh I know Babs,, that´s the problem they dont have here´any to try,, they just got RKs, more deluxe and some sportsters,, they say they don´t sell many FX models or dynas (besides the street bob, that became very popular here). so I hope they gat something in McAllen next week..
roads arn´t the best, specially this time of the year when it rains a lot!!
