how do i go about getting my bike appraised? i have a decked out 07 deluxe that i did so much with and i think i want to sell it. if anyone has a way of getting a true appraisal please tell me.
Look up Kelly Blue Book or NADA. That will give you the trade in and the retail prices. If you have all of your stock take offs, put them back on. Everything you did to "deck it out" won't bring you much more on resale.
+1. I even heard if you're trading it in, the dealers prefer them to be as stock as possible. That way they can make more on selling accessories for the bike.
Yup all your custom upgrades might actually hurt your resale value because it's what you like and maybe not what a buyer wants. Force them to look elsewhere instead of paying for stuff they don't want.
I traded in my deuce this summer and I had V&H pipes and H-D reaper wheels on it. They told me they would give me the same trade in with or without those on it. So I had them put all my stock parts on and sold the wheels on here.
KBB value is between $12,000 - $16,000 (I think 16K is high, because I got my 2010 for that price) so figure about $14,000 prob. with all included
You can also try selling on your own and may be able to pull in a little extra than what a dealer will give you; especially if it's decked out. Some buyers prefer buying a decked out slightly used new ride from an individual seller, rather than the dealers. It's a tough market out there right now but anything is possible....
