Default stage 1...

I've got it on good authority that I have a SE stage 1 air cleaner under the tree.
Now I have a question and since the stealer is closed and you guys usually have better answers, I'll ask here.
I have a stock motor, V&H side shots, and soon to be the stage 1 AC.
Now, can I just take my ECM to the dealership and have it "flashed" stage 1 or will it have to be put on a dyno and have the SERT or other fuel management added?

It should just be a flash, no dyno really needed. A fuel management system on a stock engine is a lot of work and expense for minimal gain with what you already have.

At least thats how it worked out for me. Save the dyno for a Stage 2 upgrade with an Engine kit upgrade. Fuel management might be necessary when you get to 110 or so for sure.

Just my 2 cents.

When my motor had the stage 1 download it ran like crap. Period. That is my opinion.

I am running a stage 1 --BS longs--no baffle and just a flash from stealer...no problems yet.

well I'm honestly hoping to be able to save up enough for a set of cams, possible 95" kit and a fuel mgmt system, by around March, but the way things are going that doesn't look like too good of a possibility.
I def don't feel comfortable running the stage 1 filter and the exhaust on the stock fuel settings though so are there some other cheap options besides having the stage 1 download?
BTW, what does the stealer even charge to do the stage 1 flash?

Just put on Fuel Moto's version of the Stage 1 and PC-III (he sent me a pre-canned tune) on Saturday; along with new pipes. I have never done the dealer flash, so I am clueless as to that.

I would think about saving your bones for a fuel mgmt tuner and cams, and hold off on installing the Stage 1 kit until then....

BTW after the install, my bike ran perfect...

That's good info.

I will have to think about a fuel management system if I upgrade to a 103 from my 96 this spring.

What's your suggestion and the expected results? I don't mind doing some shopping on your site after the new year.

stealer quoted $186 to do the stage 1 download??
I was thinking it was cheaper than that.

If you're doing more later I would pass on the reflash and get the tuner.
