Good! I don't like to follow the crowd anyway.

Just remember that HD just reworked the touring frame, and pushed a lot of money into promoting it. So it seems reasonable that a lot more touring bikes were sold. Wonder how many were sold to guys trading in their old touring bike???

Any body else remember when the softails were first introduced in the early 80s? Seems like the softails were the best selling bike back then.

Personally, I'm just more comfortable on a softail frame.

I'm sure the tourers out sell the softails, but I'm not buying the 90/10 split.

I can say that the last time I was at a dealer there were more touring bike in the joint than anything. I went in on mine and they wanted me to trade in and get a touring bike, I told them I'm not old enough yet. I figure another 10 years and then I'll look at them

Look at the used market and you will find more touring bikes for sale than anyother. It seems like the sales people talk them into them and after a few months they hate it enough to sell it or they just can't afford it who knows

HD is like a shark and the used market is blood in the water. Just look at what happened when the recession hit. HD knew people would need to sell their bikes to make ends meet, and they knew sales would be down. Their response: lower the price of the new bikes. They knew no one would by a used bike from an individual when you could get a new one for cheaper. For example: msrp on '09 v-rod muscle $22k, msrp on '11 v-rod muscle is now $14999. The only used bikes being sold are through HD. Very, very smart business. I'm going to ride the hell out of mine until the wheels fall off, then i'll buy some more.
