Default Almost no demand for Softails

My local dealer said the demand for Softails is below 10 percent for the country. Over 90 percent of the bikes HD sells are touring bikes. I tour with my Heritage.

What do you guys think of that?

I think it means 10% of the country are badass and know their bike, the other 90% should just ride metric...

I too tour on my softail... I tried to go with a street glide but sold it and bought another softail...

What do I think of that... perhaps the resale value of my bikes will go down but then again I'm not looking to sell either.

Trends come and go...I would assume that applies to the motorcycle market as well. I know I just traded my Duece on a Stret Glide...so I guess I'm part of it!

We were not talking trade or sell my bike. I am putting a 95 kit on my 06 Heritage and I plan for it to stay with me till I die. I love my bike. I may buy others but the 06 stays.

Prices are not holding up as well on used Heritages as on used Touring bikes from what I have seen.

I agree with you totally. I respect the experienced riders that ride the Road King etc but for me I rather ride my Heritage than a King any day.

A lot of OLD Bikers want the Heritage. They say because of its weight and ride. The 10 percent of the country know their bikes sounds about right. Most of the 90 percent not all but most are just buying the idea of touring from what I have seen.

The Baby Boomer generation is the most financially secure demographic. Most of those riders started off with non-touring bikes, so it would make sense that sales of touring bikes are on the rise as comfort becomes more of an issue. 90% seems like a pretty high number. I'm sure Sprotster sales probably trump them. But then I've heard I'm stupid.....
