Bobtail rack on 07 custom w/LED tail lamp

The rack doesn't fit! The HD web site said with the right components, it would. What am I doing wrong?

I purchased the tri-bar LED tail light #69817-07, the installation kit #59320-07 and the bobtail rack #60161-06. I even purchased bobtail rack #53979-07. Both racks are too close to the tail light to reach the tail light housing. I called HD and they said that my 07 softail custom can't use the bobtail rack with the new tail light.

Has anyone used the bobtail rack with this new tail light?

I think you should call this person again and ask him to read the website features. It is cleared that it fits FXSTC models. Otherwise return it back to the stealer and get your money back.

I have not used this light, but was looking at getting one... Aside from the Rack issue, how does it look? Is it brighter? I do not have your rack. I was looking at this or Kuryakyn lights.

The light looks awsome, and is very bright. It really finishes the rear of the bike.

I just wish I could use the bobtail rack!

There's not much out there for tail lights on the 200mm, except Joker and HD.
The Joker doesn't flow at all, and looks cheap. I personally wouldn't buy it for $39.00 although it's priced at $399.00

I ordered the HD unit blind, and it's probably the nicest looking and flowing light I could hope for. The tri-bar thing is blinding bright at night, and it's under $200.00 from Zanottis.

I have the rack on my 07 Custom and WAS looking at the light. But wasn't sure the two were compatable, now I know.
Guess I'm stuck with the Kuryakyn

or the retro fit kit from Custom Dynamics.

Thanks for the heads up, just sorry it cost you a bunch of time, effort, and money (?) to find out they "screwed things up" on us.

Just wondering if anyone has been able to figure this one out yet. The MoCo made a mistake if you can't install both, I would like to. Any HD dealer parts guys or wrenches know anything about this? Thanks.
