Default A few crossbone ?s

Have had the xbones for awhile and was thinking about doing some simple improvements.

1st was thinking about a new air cleaner cover, but had the dealer install some v&h sideshots before I bought it. I'm assuming they had to put a diffrent air filter on it. the one i have looks like stock with some long spacers between it. Will any cover/filter designed for a softail of this year fit?

2nd Do the timing covers just bolt on and off. nothing else needed just new cover and the right size torx bit?

3rd read a thread about installing new derby cover is it just 2x4 under kick stand new gasket screw new cover on? should i thread lock the timing and derby cover?

1. Any cover designed for a 96" should work.

2. Yes, just the cover and a torx bit.

3. I don't think you will even need the 2x4, I've removed the cover many times on mine, the oil is only supposed to come up to the bottom of the derby hole. You may or may not need a new gasket...buy one just in case.
Don't use thread locker, you will most likely strip the screws if you do use it. Just tighten them down to the manuals recommendation...not too tight or you will strip them.

check the cover you buy and see if it uses an o ring seal or if it is machined flat. If it's flat you need to pick up a new flat style gasket. I had to buy longer screws when I changed the timing cover as the old screws were to short.
