Who measures the front tab on HD stock seats??
I have two HD brand seats for my fatboy(03)
both of them did not engage the frame enough to hold the seat with slight upward pressure..i/e can "pop" them out easily, and the long two up stocker wobbles on the frame.
the solo does not wobble. has (side screws,no rear screw)
My fix was to add a 1/4" extension to the front tab .( welded on)
Also made the extension a little wider to stop the wobble.
This is just a rant about very expensive seats that do not fit.
my "mustang" seat on my sportie fits well
I'm not sure if this is the issue you are having but here's some info. I had to get the rear fender replaced on my '04 heritage. The new fender was direct from harley, color matched. It came with a longer rear tab for mounting the passenger pillion on the fender. I also noticed there are two holes near the rear of the driver seat. I think the new fender has the two holes so it can be used with a newer style seat (2007 & up I think). Anyway, if I mounted my stock seat with the original rear pillion tab/screw, the front tab was not long enough and the two side screws were out of alignment. I also have a badlander seat, but that one fits okay with the stock rear tab. It has no side screws.

"short seated"
Ugggh....And I thought I was the only unlucky bastard with this problem. Just got a HD Solo Seat this weekend and the same thing was going on..I will say this though, After an hour of my fat *** on it I seemed to flatten/stretch out the length of the seat and tailpiece. It seems to fit much better now. If I could weld, I would definately add some more to that front tab though.

are you sure the seats were for a 2000-up softails.
The 84-99 softails had a shorter tab. Sounds like maybe you have one of those.

I think they are for the 03 , the long(two-up) stocker has the 100 years logo on it ..
As I said both are fixed with a little help from my MIG welder..
Was just ranting about the "quality fit" from HD ,
and as some of you replied.."My aftermarket seat fits well"
It's the blind 400 lb gorilla at the factory who measures the tab.
His big brother is the 800 lb gorilla that puts the oil filters on new bikes!
Actually the "blind gorilla" is pretty good , how else could he measure exactly 1/4 inch too short ??? ( aftermarket fits , HD dont )
I think if I bought a cadillac, the seat wouldnt wobble..
