Aviation fuel ?
You can legally buy AVGAS (any average Joe can) I buy it at a local airport at the self-service pump. This is 100LL as stated here, which is 100 octane with a low amount of lead.
Unless you have a high compression engine, no real benefit. I run every now and again in both my 87' FXST and 09' FLHT, only cause I love the smell, and it is cheaper than most racing fuels. Only other possible benifit is is people may smell the exhaust, assume you have a race motor, and be scared to race
Avgas, your probably talking about "blue" gas, is a 100LL (octane) fuel designed for low compression/high altitude engines. While it won't hurt the bikes' engine it would definately put a dent in your wallet. Typically, aviation fuel is much more expensive than regular pump gas. MUCH MORE!
That would partially explain the meager amount of pilots wanting to get STC's (supplemental type certificates) for their planes so that they could run the cheaper pump gas. The other explanation being that when the engine quits you can't pull off the side of the road in a plane!

I used to burn a 50/50 mix of the old blue 110LL AV fuel in my cars and bikes. Never hurt them. I got the AV for free every day as I worked at Mercury Air Center in Sanata Barbara, CA and each morning we had to drain a few gallons out of the tanker truck sumps to remover settled water or particulate matter. It was considered Hazmat but we ran it thru a filter and put it in our tanks. Free Gas.... Also saved on having to pay to have hazmat removal.

You might not want that info out. We've fired people for selling to the public (Non aviation use)

Point taken. I have to assume, and only an assumption on my part, but there are different rules for for different areas. In most areas of Florida, AVGAS is available to the public for non avaition use for airboaters who run avaiton engines.
It's all tax based, Non hiway use is o.k., certain non-exempt orginizations. We have a couple of drag strips in our area, the Feds do watch to see if FBO's are selling to those they shouldn't. Absolutely no sense of humor.
There is one airport here that encourages sales to airboaters, in fact pump fuel for you.
My purpose of posting was primarily for showing it does not harm my Harleys.
