I asked the same question about hdwheels.com about a month ago on 2 separate forums. I didn't get a single response pro or con. They have alot of options for wheels including the 17 X 6 for the rear, unfortunately no one knows they exist.

blackbike_17 Crossbones rear wheel should work, but it would be black. Thats what i did to my 06FXST and it looks great!
I had a friend who works on bikes tell me this would be a pain in the ***. Something about the off set and spacers I think. I guess you didn't have any trouble. Tell us how it went.
