Default HD center stand install

My center stand came in today. I put on my '07 Heritage in about 20 minutes. Kinda hard getting the threaded studs out from behind the muffler bracket, but after that it bolted up with a little clamping & aligning. I put my foot on it, rotated it back, and it propped right back up on the stand perfectly. It's adjusted so the rear tire still makes contact and bears a little weight. The bike sits square with the world now, and is very stable. BUT...... Now I can't get it rocked back down off the stand! I screwed with it standing beside the bike and sitting on it too, and I can't get it rocked off the stand. I even got it sliding around on the garage floor, Not good. So, I'll mess with it more in the morning when I have more time. I supposed it'll be simple with some practice.

This won't help much, but I saw these two guys who rode a scooter to Home Depot and threw it up on its center stand about 2 weeks ago. When I was coming out, they were trying to figure out how to get it off the center stand. I grabbed a hot dog and soda to watch the show and by the time i left, they were both still scratching there heads in frustration staring at the damn thing.

By the way, which center stand did you get? I plan on getting one myself.

Hope I karma isn't a bitch to me...

I guess I need one - last night I dreamed that I couldn't get my bike to sit on the kickstand. It kept wanting to roll forward a little every time I let go.

OK, here are a couple of photos, and I think I might try to drive it off the stand after breakfast. It's so cold outside, I hate to run the garage door up. by the way, I found this stand at Zanotti's for $276.+ shpg. the P/N is HD-98955-07

Well, with a little practice, I think I have this figured out. Roll the bike back, standing on the foot lever. It lifts slightly, rocks over center, locking in place. The further out you have the feet adjusted, the higher it rises before it rocks over & locks. All this requires very little effort. But, I knew all that already, we all did. The tricky part is getting it back down. Put the bike in "N" grab the left handle bar, put your right foot IN FRONT of the left stand leg, NOT ON THE FOOT LEVER. The foot lever wants to rise immediately when you rock the bike for ward. It has a lot of leverage, and if you have foot pressure on it, it will not allow it to rotate up. I have the saddlebag bars, so I grasp it with my right hand, picking up and pushing forward at the same time. With very little forward motion, and it's over center the other way and comes down.

Glad you figured it out!!!!!

I had a center stand on an 06' Ultra....Heavy Bike...all I had to do to get it off the center stand was to "push" the bike alittle foward, and the stand went up...and away I went....yours sounds a bit complicated.....unless it was made to "lock into place".....
