anyone have any pics of the chrome neckcovers on your softail with braided cables. i took my bike down to the local bike shop to have a 10000 mile service done and i saw a set of kuryakin neck covers. i said hey lets slap these bad boys on while we are at it. they said they wouldnt work because of the braided chrome cables....???? any pics or advice. i checked with h-d they dont even make any...
I've got a set on my RKC. I don't understand the issue with the braided cables?!? -thats something I've never heard before. Did they explain why they wouldn't fit? Anyway, the Kuryakyn neck covers are pretty easy to install, you may need another hand just to hold the off-side while getting things lined up. They do look nice once installed.
they just said the cables would be in the way. do you think i should just get them and take em home and install them myself. do you think they will work?
Are you thinking of buying Kury's? Check their website for any fitment issues. I guess I'd like to know more about why the dealer won't think they'll fit. I have braided cables and the neck covers fit okay. Call Kury direct and see what they have to say.

And the stock cables wont be in the way??? Are/were they routed different than the stock cables? I have no experience with the neck covers though. The only difference I would think is that the braided cables are thicker than the stockers.Maybe that would cause problems on the install.Sometimes I have left a dealership with great info on questions I have had. But many other times I have left scratching my head, wondering how some of these people work at a Harley Dealership.
i went to both h-d and a local bike shop. it may be the thickness of the braided cable. ill check back with them monday. i may just get them and try to install them myself. i just thought these guys do this stuff everyday and you would think they would know for sure. ya know how that goes though...
There isnt anything that an aftermarket cable can interfere with. Sounds like a crock of **** to me. Id buy them and put them on yourself, damn near everything kuryakyn sells snaps on.
I've got braided cables with the Kuryakyn Neck Covers. You have to be particular how you route them and they still may scrape the jacket of the cables, but they will work.
I have neck covers on my fatboy with stock cables. I had to put one sided foam tape on the back where the cables rub due to how sharp the edge is on the cover. They also bent the cables. I do like the look and i like the fact my cables no longer hit the chrome covers on the back of my forks.
