Default New SS Throttle Cables ?

I just put the new cables on and those rubber things that protect the adjusters look out of place. I am leaving them off. Was wondering who put them on with new cables and who left them off.

I only ride in the rain when I get caught so I am wondering if I should leave the adjusters exposed. I know about the Chrome covers but I would have to take them apart again to get them on.

I have the chrome covers on both my clutch and throttle adjusters. They split down the middle and are held together with snap rings so you don't have to remove your cables.

I also have the chrome covers on mine. The rubbers looked stupid and with nothing there it just did not look finished. The covers split like he said and are easy to put on.

My SS cables did not come with rubbers so I figured they did not need them , sure as hell not taking the ones off the stock cables to put on the SS ones . The adjusters are smaller and polished or chrome , they look fine as they are !

I put the same chrome covers on after I changer to Stainless cables. The set I used was HD. The so called snap rings were crap. They wouldn't hold the 2 halves securely together and kept opening. Took the cables off and slid small o-rings on, 1 below the adjuster and 1 above. After re-assembling and adjusting put the 2 halves together and popped the o-rings into the snap rings place. Hold everything tight and the rings are nearly invisible.

You are right about the rings being crap. I re-shaped mine with a pair of pliers, and put just a little bit of clear silicone grease on the chrome covers where the rings slide on and that helped, but I still intend to hit our ACE Hardware and look for something better.
