Hey Dan,

My wife and I worked at the RFTW reception Friday night at the Oil Patch campground. She was handing out desserts and I was handing out water and bussing tables. Were you at the Memorial Saturday morning? I was the one who read a letter from the soldier who'd just returned from Iraq. Diann (Mojo Red) is a good friend of mine. We do CMA stuff together. Who do you know in Odessa?

Pat

I saw your last post, The reed switch works both sides so if it is only ONE side giving you problems, this may not be your solution. You can also desconnect the wire for the reed switch and it will turn your signals into a push to activate and push to cancel system with no time out feature.

You said.....When the bike is at a standstill and either ls activated.it works normal
That means that the flasher is OK , but try to see if it is only a problem on one side only as this may go somewhere else.

Dan, Looks like you are going to have to start tracing wiring. Look for places the turn signal wires make hard turns. You may have a bare wire that is about worn in two. Also look up under the rear fender and trace the wiring harness back to the fuse block. Sometimes you'll find a worn wire under there. Finally, if your turn signal harness' plug back into your rear brake lamp, check the connection there. It may be gunked up or corroded. Pat

Checked all wires/ stop light..ok.2 nasty bulbs / replaced. Replacement speedo not in yet. Now left side works fine but right is still inconsistent..going for the reed switch.I will hold off until speedo is installed. I have decided this is the dealers "fix" We have a good Dealership here so I trust them as I have done a lot of business there with satisfaction ...Thsi thread has been a good learning expierence and I appreciate all the suggestions.

Check the bulbs/sockets again on that side

FYI, on newer models the angle bank sensor is connected to the signals, and if it is gone it will make your signals go screwy. I don't know about a 92 carb model though. Anyone?

I had almost the same problem on my dyna sometimes the turn signal would stay on solid, sometimes it would blink or just turn off for no reason it just happened to be a frayed wire way up under the rear fender I actually had to pull the fender just to find it so i'm not sure how in depth you checked the wiring but if you haven't looked there its worth a shot , and at the very least if you do take it to the dealer at least ask them to look there for you while they have it on a lift. Reason being is the dealer I took mine to said the switch was going bad, needless to say I won't be going back there again but thats another story.

Good luck to you
Rob

On a side note Wow theres a lot of talk about a little town like Odessa never think of that place while I'm here(I've got family there btw)

Speedo still not in .ie....reed switch..I have looked for a "signal" flasher " on my '92 ,havent found the turn module either...Thought one of the two might be the germlin ..One parts book shows a "flasher " plug in type like you might see on a car .The owners manual talks of a module..The dealer here doesnt know either.??Im Ive traced all wires ,checked bulbs etc... Cant get my scoot in until this friday, just got a call that speedo was in ,,,Im just the impatient type I guess .Any idea where a flasher or the module might be located ? Ive had the console off .Maybe under the tank ??

Just a thought here, if you turn the signals on and let them flash, you may be able to hear the stat clicking.
