turn signals
Follow up to turn signal problem..New speedo in ..No reed switch but a module/relay.. Also the gray wire was disconnected as you suggested ..That fixed the left turn and now waiting for part to come in .That should fix the problem .I have had many small things done to the '92 at the dealers courtesy/expense ..great bunch of guys .Thanks for everyones help and suggestions.I am logging in everyday for " good uns" ...
Guess what folks ..None of the above ..After speedo replaced and the turn signal mod. replaced and all wires checked. We were in the shop with it on the lift.Took off the rear turn signal housings.I noticed that they were a one wire set up to each bulb...so that meant that the ground had to be either the housing it self or the bulb socket...It was loose and as the vibrations increased with speed etc... it jumped around the housing interrupting the ground ..We bent down the edges of the back of the socket which tightened it up and whoa...everything worked ..Never wouldve guessed if We hadnt taken the housing apart..Tha svc. manual indicated to replace the turn signal module ....ordered " new and improved " housings ..what an odessey and adventure yet so simple.....Onward through the fog !!
You know what though ?you folks on this forum were closer to diagnosing the problem than the dealer was..That whats amazing .(or is it ?)and thanks for all the help. Now a dumb question before my service manual comes in ..Where is the primary chain adjusting screw or is there one ??Got a long ride this weekend ,MDA run..Is it in a similar location as a Sportster ?
