Default Wild 1 WO560 Drag Bars with stock cables on Fat Boy Lo?

I'm considering purchasing Wild 1 Chubbys WO560's but I'm worried that stock cables wont work because I've read that some people with the similar HD Street Slammers had to change some cables. Has anyone used these Wild 1 bars with stock cables on a Fat Boy Lo? I remember reading somewhere that they say they will work with stock cables on most bikes. I just want to eliminate any surprises. Thanks for your time!

I had to replace all my cables. They weren't very expensive. The expensive part is the labor if you have HD do it. They want like 7 hours labor!

I had these on the wife's sportster and did not have to change any cables.

Default Need to change...

You may be able to get away without changing the clutch cable since the stock cable has so much sweep in it.

But the throttle cables and brake cables will need to be changed.

I had those bars on my 04 and did not have to swap cables. Looking at my 09, I think they would work as well. I loved the bars on my 04 and have also been seriosly considering getting a set again. I am torn between those and maybe some 12" apes. I am vertically challenged (5'7"), so am unsure how apes would work out for me.

It looks like there is no straight answer here. This is the same thing with the Street Sweepers, one half says you are good using stock cables and the other half bought new cables.

I put street slammers on my 2010 fatboy and did NOT have to change one cable. As a matter of fact my front break line is an 1" or so to long. I do not think the lo would be different but not sure. When I was going to do mine two dealers told me I would need all new cables but got the truth on this forum from members who have done the swap on there rides. The swap is a very easy job other than the handle bar control housings that are always a PIA to do.

remember, the stock bars on the LO are much narrower than on a regular fatboy. I would think YOU WILL need to change cables.

I just measured the bars on my Lo and they are about 30.5" wide which is the same as the drag bars I am looking at. I think a potential problem with the stock wires is that the drag bars have a lot more pullback thus requiring more length of cable. I personally haven't installed bars before myself but at the cost of new bars, new cables and labor we're talking over $1000 to have the dealer do it if the OP is right about the 7 hours off labor. I simply can't afford that and I'm not sure I have the patience to tackle it myself.

Default No need to swap cables

If anyone is watching this thread still I just swapped out the stock bars with the wild one 5060 and there was no need to swap out anything. I was told I would need new cables from the HD dealer and the dealer I got the bars from. In fact some of the cables seem a bit too long now which doesn't make a lot of sense if you look at just the specks. I was prepped to get the bars on there and measure for the right length. Everything is back on and looks great. Who ever paid for new cables and labor needs to go back and have a few words with the guy that charged him!
