Here is my Dilemma, My wife gave me the ok to buy a used Heritage softail. Ive been riding my first bike, a 2004 883c for six years, 40k trouble free miles. Now that I was given the ok, Im a little nervous about doing it.
Ill have to sell my sportster when its all said and then.
So, those that have upgraded to a heritage, do you have any regrets. Any pro/cons about the heritage.

I'm sure you'll fall in love. However, before signing on the line, take a real close look at the FatBoy and the Deluxe while your at it. You've got nothing to lose.
I test rode one this past week that my Dad was trying to buy. Nice ride for sure. As the other post said don't rule out a Fatboy or Deluxe, all are great bikes.
As long as it's not your only transportation, you'd be well to sell the Sporty 1st. Then w/ cash in hand find a late, low mileage creampuff for $1,000's less than new.
Probably a good idea to rent for a day any bike you're looking to buy.

Ditto.
Deluxe, Fatty, and Heritage are all really similar bikes.
The smallest details or changes not only could affect how you like the looks of the bike, but may also affect the ride.
The motor of my '93 Sportster blew in Oct. '09. In Jan. 10 the wife said, 'If it's really broke that bad, get another bike.'
On Jan. 19, 2010, I bought my '02 Heritage. I liked the Sportster. If the motor hadn't blown, I'd still be riding it. But, I'll NEVER go back now! I love my Heritage.
Get the Heritage. If you wanna play like you've got a Fatboy, take off the bags and windshield. If you wanna play like you've got a Deluxe, take off the bags. The Heritage is the BEST bike in the softail line.
+1 on all the above mentioned. The Deluxe, Heritage and fat boy are really very similar. I like the hell out of my Deluxe. I dig the old school look I went with, when adding mods to my scoot. You can choose either one of the bikes and you will be happy. You have just about endless options you can do to either one of them and make them really stick out from the rest of the pack. Just look at all 3 bikes and see what you wanna do with em, as far as mods, then decide. Because if your like us, if you get a heritage, the mods wont be far behind. Good luck in your choice, you cant go wrong.
