Well me and a buddy went and look at the bike I found locally for sale. All records for maintenance were available, Bike started right up. With 4400 miles on the clock it looked brand new. It is a 2006 black cherry bike, 88ci, 5spd, with a carb. vance and hines pipes, quick disconnect back rest, new 60spoke wheels, 11.5k final price I can get it for.
Over all this is the bike I narrowed it down to. Its in my price range, has the mileage I was looking for. Sure I would like a 6spd, and light blue paint, but these are minor trade offs. Im going for it.
don't worry about missing the 6spd. I liked the 88 w/5spd much better than a stock 96 w/6spd. 103 w/6spd a different story. 4400 miles is great and it barely needs an oil chg. Enjoy, and don't look back. It sounds like a great bike.
No regrets,, Ain't looked back once,, its IMO the best ridding Softail and better than the Road Kings and Street Glides I've ridden...
I personally wouldn't trade it for either one of the above...
Its a done deal, my new to me softail is at home in the garage. The bike runs and rides great, now I just need to take my time to get use to riding a different bike. More pictures to come.
