Well, I had a chance to ride Sunday and noticed my security key wasn't flashing, fired up the Lo and what! No headlight and no security key...last month I repleaced the speedo with the digital/tach version but everything worked fine afterwards, went and filled up tank as instructed but haven't ridden since. Anyone else experience this? Are these headlights all short lived? Bike is 6 months new...Thanks all...
First thing I checked, switched, wiggled etc...no go....took the bulb out and it looks fine, I'll check for juice when I get home tonight....
stuck the original speedo back in also...key icon flashes...I think it's this new digital speedo....
I had my bike dynoed last year and when I left noticed the low beam was out, went to high beam and it burned out before I got home? That bulb was fairly new too??
When you stuck the original speedo back in did the lights work?
When you check for voltage at the light and that should tell you if it's the bulb or another issue. If it's not the bulb then work your way back.
Well...that was a 10 day headache...here's what happened...
There are 2 bundles of wires coming from the headlight and the left side controls. Of course I sassumed the prob was in the control wires because I had to extend them to install Beach bars. So...strip the bundle and start wiggling wires....did this for days (on and off) and couldn't replicate the problem, sometimes the light would come on, other times it would not...
To make a long story short it turns out that every time I was testing a control wire, I was moving the headlight bundle above it...lightbulb comes on in my head, and I reach up and grab the headlight connector clip under the gastank...
Click!!!
When I painted the tank apparently I didn't mate the connector well enough and the sides were barely touching....
