I have one and no so far, no scratches from it. I only get a few magnets to connect fully with the shape of the tank, but it still holds firmly. I used it on the 5hr trip to and from Myrtle Beach with no problems even at high speeds.
I used a ram mount for mine. It is hard to be able to control your iphone or ipod touch through the plastic on the tank pouch. I had one but never used it. Sold it a while back. I mounted my ram mount on the dash so I can control the ipod with my left hand while riding.
I've got one, and it works great for me. Unlike Drew, I've had no problems adjusting the controls through the plastic, but I don't have to screw with it all that much running down the road.
The magnets hold very firmly, but the skin protects the finish of the tank.
The photo below was when I was using a Walkman MP3, but I replaced it with a 4th gen iPod Touch and it worked great also. I've just gotten the Verizon iPhone 4, and it will work just fine also.
Here ya go...It's kind of hard to see but you get the idea. I have a powerlet charger routed from under the dash and through the ram mount to charge the iphone. Chrome looks a lot nicer but costs $100 more. Too much for me. You can pretty much position teh mount any way you want. I like it where it is as I use my left hand to adjsut anything I may need to on the raod.
