Hey Tom, I just switched out V&H Longs for V&H Big Shot Staggered......I like the look of the staggered and I think they sound better also. I'm riding an 07 Fatboy so before I switched I went out on the web and pulled up some youtube videos of fatty's with V&H staggered.........if you can't find any send me a message and I'll make a video of mine. I didn't put quite baffles in mine, I'm hoping they hear me before they see me! The heatshields really keep the pipes looking clean....if that's important to you.
ok cool thanks for the reply,im guessing either of the two, will be nice,my buddie has your same pipes on a springer, they sound awsome like u say,i justlike the look of the longs but wish for the sound of the bss,do u think changing the baffles to like bigcity thunder would acomplish what im looking for in the longs
I just went to Big City Thunder's web site......they say their baffles "deliver not only a deeper sound but also improved performance over a standard baffle or unbaffled pipes". My experience with the longs....they sounded a little tinny (only word that comes to mind, no bass/subsonic pressure) and that may be due to the lenth of the resonance chamber (length of the actual pipe). Remember that we really can't hear Hz below about 15Hz.......but we can feel them. These baffles may do both give your looks and sound.
Hey Tom, it hit almost 60 today so I borrowed my wife's flip camcorder, backed the bike out on the driveway and shot a video. I didn't let it rip......neighbors......but you can hear how they sound.
personal choice. I have long shots with baffles removed. Straight and loud as hell.deep loud too, not annoying. Bluing is a result of running rich, not the choice if pipe. Mine blued slightly after 8 years and almost 50k miles, but still look and shine great overall.
