08 FXSTC not starting
08 FXSTC not starting
Went for a ride the other night, arrived home and parked outside my garage.Went inside and then later came out turned ignition on ,hit starter,it made a bit of a backfire and a clunk and now starter doesn't turn over. Any ideas ? bike only has 20,000kms

Take the plugs out before you try to roll it in gear. If it won't move then something is jammed up. Could be the started gear jammed in the clutch ring gear or any number of other things.

I would check battery connections and see what the voltage on the battery is with a meter. My battery died just over a year after purchase, and was always on a tender between rides.
Anything less than 12.4 is getting too low and could have problems starting. Mine was doing what yours did on and off for a few weeks and it was the battery and would never charge above 12.3 even on a tender.
