SFCMO357,
You show me this after I bought them, but before I put them on. Thanks...oh well, too late because they are going on before the cold ride to base tomorrow morning.
SFCMO357,
Try getting the parts you want to "hide" powder coated black. You can go with a high gloss to match you bike, or go flatter to really conceal them. Either way you go they won't stand out like they do now.
I have them on my bike and love the way they work. In fact, I think they look good too... but what do I know?
I think their functionality makes them less ugly. If they were on the bike and didn't really do anything, then they would be pretty ugly. But since they help, they're just another thing to make the ride more comfortable.
My dad had a custom painted Fatboy that looked awesome. He traded it it in on a new Ultra a couple months ago. The Fatboy now has a new home, and we see it around town from time to time. This past Friday our dealer was having a Bike Night so we went up there. Sure enough, we see the Fatboy there. We go take a look at it to see if the new owner has changed anything on it, and he did change out a couple things. The ugliest mod he did, which has to be the ugliest thing anyone could ever do to their bike, was he put stickers on the rear fender. This guy actually put some skull stickers with some flames on the rear fender of a custom painted bike! Now THAT was ugly!
I put wind deflectors on my Heritage the other day as I get a load of buffeting with the screen on. They are not the prettiest thing but they cut down alot of the buffeting. Unfortuantely its not enough for me and my head shakes at speed over 60 which is a bit crap. I will probably end up taking the shield and wind deflectors off. I will need to change the bars though as I have pulled mine back a bit to make them more comfy and I think they look weird like this.
My ugliest upgrade was a fork bag from Kuryakyn. I only use it when I need to cause it looks like a$$. However.... I carried 3 pair of jeans, 6 pair of sox, 4 thermals, 4 tees, toiletries, phone and camera in it through the keys.
