I'm trying to remove Vance and Hines Big Radius from my 2005 Deluxe in order to get to the transmission cover so i can install a new braided clutch cable. Try as I might i cannot remove the 1/2" bolts that attach the exhaust to the plate attached to the frame. I assume that when the exhaust was installed, the installer used a generous amount of some type of thread locker.
So any advise how to loosen these bolts. Theres not a lot of room to work so lack of leverage on the wrench just adds to the problem.
Heat gun should do it, if not use an extension on your wrench or ratchet handle, for more leverage. I'm on my 2nd after market exhaust and didn't use loctite either time. Nuts and bolts don't vibrate off the Softails like they do on the unbalanced engine models.
I can understand HD loctiting the bolts that hold your exhaust to the frame. What doesn't make sense is why they loctite the retention nuts for the shock adjustment on Softails.
