Default Horn Relocation Project

So.... ever since I relocated my coil to where the horn goes in my Fatboy, I've never been comfortable of where I put the horn. I basically put the cowbell under the triple-T in the A-frame. So, I wasn't happy with it.

I searched through the threads for ideas and found a few folks put it behind the rear cover, and a few folks who put it inside the nacelle. I decided to go with inside the nacelle.

I already had the wire long enough to fit inside, so I basically took it out of the cowbell and threw it in there. Of course, much to my non-surprise, I needed to tune it again. There's an adjustment screw on the back covered by a dab of silicone, and if you have horn tooting problems you'll rip that silicone off & start twisting. So I tuned it, threw it in the nacelle and took it for a test ride.

My test ride was to do 2 things: See how the shock adjustment I did made a difference, and to test the horn. Shocks was a success, horn was a fail. Rattled like a baby's rattle.

So, I tried to cram some foam inside the nacelle, and of course I had to tune the horn AGAIN! Didn't work. Kept vibrating loose. So, I decided the last ditch effort to keeping a horn was to make a mount. The back left piece of the nacelle includes a capped hole where a heritage would have it's highway light switch. So, having a glorious Fatboy made that hole lonely. I happened to have some scrap thin metal and made a mount. SUCCESS!! Pics of this included. Tuned the horn a final time and I can finally quit messing with this DA&N horn.

Hope this helps the next guy have a few less troubles than I did.

The stock horn is awfully large and unfortunately looks silly out in front of the frame. Way to be creative on the mounting.

Does it still make noise if no ones is around? Kind of like the whole tree falling in the forest thing.
