I was thinking the same thing and almost picked up a pinstriping tool at SEMA. Made it real easy to pinstripe wheels and straight lines.

OK, after realizing it might be next year before I can get the wheels I want, I came up with a couple of ideas and BOBBER slaped the paint on them.

I was thinking painting the aircleaner elbow to match. Give me your opinions and don't hold back.

I really like the red.
Like sated, maybe a flat red.

I had an 07 Train with the solid rear black wheel with that silver ring around it. I always hated it and it was very hard to keep clean. I ended up PCing the entire wheel gloss black.

I say go for it.

Wheels are off my sled!!! I should be done by Monday and I will post pics. I think I've got it figured out and I think you guys are going to like what I come up with.

FREEFALL, your sled looks sweet bro and you are correct a flater red would be better, that is just PSed to give an idea of which direction to go. I'm actually redoing the entire wheel in a matte black including the brushed aluminium. Actually I'm putting a red pin stripe about a 1/4" wide that will be painted on first (the pinstripe will match the red in my tank badge), then taped off and then the matte black over the entire wheels. Then I will pull the tape off exposing the red stripe and then clear coat it all. It will look like the red stripe is an inlay into the paint.

Although I did paint my fender and will paint my rear fender when I finish the stretch, I can't claim the paint work that will be done on my wheels. It's my idea (kinda copying the HDW pic on the previous page) but this job is gonna take a bit more painting skills than I have right now.

I believe you all are right about the bordism! I also believe that I can go to far if I'm not careful and that's why I posted this so that you all can keep me in check.

So with that said the RED and BLUE is OUT.

I think I'm going to leave it alone until I can afford the wheels I want to put on next year.

These are what I want!!!!

What do you guys think about painting my existing aluminium ring on my wheels matte black and put a red pin stripe like shown in the picture above, until I can afford these? (like some have suggested)

Or should I just sit tight and mod my bagger for awhile?
Go for it Jim...

these wheels and wide white walls would look sick on your bike.

Ok, Drew said white walls also. So let me finish my wheels first and then post them (should be no later than monday) and we will start the opinion process over again.

Thanks for the input guys!

I think after you pinstripe your wheels you need to have some red pinstripes on your tins to tie it all in.

Ya know, if the bike was accented in either color, the red and blue trim rings would not look out of place. That being the ONLY place for a splash of color, and the fact that it is such a large area of color, literally in the absence of color on the rest of the sled, make it fail... In my opinion.
Dude. If you want to splash color on your bike, wear colorful clothes when you ride it. You got an awesome ride. Don't mess with it now!!
