I think the red rimmed wheels look totally sick, bro! I would do that in a second, if I had a Lo or any blacked out bike, but I guess I'm in the minority on that one. I like my Duracell colored bike, too - certainly aren't a whole lot of people who share my views on that that.
Wheels are off my sled!!! I should be done by Monday and I will post pics. I think I've got it figured out and I think you guys are going to like what I come up with.
FREEFALL, your sled looks sweet bro and you are correct a flater red would be better, that is just PSed to give an idea of which direction to go. I'm actually redoing the entire wheel in a matte black including the brushed aluminium. Actually I'm putting a red pin stripe about a 1/4" wide that will be painted on first (the pinstripe will match the red in my tank badge), then taped off and then the matte black over the entire wheels. Then I will pull the tape off exposing the red stripe and then clear coat it all. It will look like the red stripe is an inlay into the paint.
Although I did paint my fender and will paint my rear fender when I finish the stretch, I can't claim the paint work that will be done on my wheels. It's my idea (kinda copying the HDW pic on the previous page) but this job is gonna take a bit more painting skills than I have right now.
Do you know what kind of paint the pinstripe will be? I thought I remembered you as being one of us who was dabbling with pinstriping. If they use one -shot enamel for the stripe, make sure they use some one-shot hardener in the paint, if they don't, the clear coat will screw it up pretty nicely....

Yea bro, he is using a hardner in the paint and that's why I'm having this guy do it for me with my help. That's where I woulda messed up, but he said exactly what you said.
Oh, and my pinsrtiping skills are about where my painting skills are, ROOKIE level lol.
Ya know, if the bike was accented in either color, the red and blue trim rings would not look out of place. That being the ONLY place for a splash of color, and the fact that it is such a large area of color, literally in the absence of color on the rest of the sled, make it fail... In my opinion.
Dude. If you want to splash color on your bike, wear colorful clothes when you ride it. You got an awesome ride. Don't mess with it now!!
Have some faith bro. I'll post pics when I'm done. I do appreciate your perspective though, I really like honest opinions. But I think you'll like what I'm going to come up with.
For the record, I'm not a colorful clothes rider lol.
I believe you all are right about the bordism! I also believe that I can go to far if I'm not careful and that's why I posted this so that you all can keep me in check.
So with that said the RED and BLUE is OUT.
I think I'm going to leave it alone until I can afford the wheels I want to put on next year.
These are what I want!!!!
What do you guys think about painting my existing aluminium ring on my wheels matte black and put a red pin stripe like shown in the picture above, until I can afford these? (like some have suggested)
Or should I just sit tight and mod my bagger for awhile?
Does HDW make quality wheels? Are they direct bolt on? They have some real nice wheels on their site. They look pretty expensive too.
While this photoshop is not very good, you get the point.
I think wide WWWs and red rims would look great. A Matching red pin stripe or some custom striping (old skool) would set this ride off. A pinup with some tittays on the fender would be a nice tough too.
I say go for it!
