Looking at getting my first Harley, and right now its between a 2005 NightTrain with the 88ci an 5spd trans in black and a 2007 96ci w/ 6spd in black, bikes are near identical, both have around 12k miles, and not alot of work done to them. Which one will I be happier with? Did the early 96's have problems? Will I notice the 5spd vs. 6spd?
Thanks!
I'd say all things being equal... 07. Aren't they fuel injected too? The 200 tire option is a seller for me too. Although I have a Rocker, I think the 200 is about perfect. JMO
get the 07 200 mm tire the nada is about 1000 each year newer and the 6 speed is a plus...mods are easy to find for the 05 but imo...the 07 is a better bike
Hard choice, depends on the extras and price.I'm not much of a fan of the wide tire but like the 6 speed.I'm one of the 05's are the best year owners.Cam shoes are an issue with the 88's and compensators are an issue with the 07's.G.
Is the 2005 carb'd? If so, that'd be a selling point for me.
It really depends on what YOU want. Like G, I'm not a fan of the 200 tire. I think it takes away from the lines of the bike. Also, I hate FI. But that's just me. As far as the 6 speed? It depends on how, and where you ride most. If you cruise at or around 75/80, get the 6 speed.
Which ever one you choose, we'll all be right here to help you empty your bank account. Good luck with your choice!
+1. Id get the 05 too. Not a big tire fan here. As for 5sp or 6...I think you have to spend time with a 5sp to know if you really need the 6. Since you're getting a Softail I have to assume you're not touring anyways. Since it's your first harley, I think you will do fine with a 5sp and shouldnt let it be a big factor here.
