Has anyone tried these guys out for a Heritage Drivers Backrest?

It looks to me like it would be to far forward and force you to sit closer than is natural.

Drivers Backrest

Yes, I have this backrest and I now hate riding without it! Very very comfortable. My wife can ride the back seat with it installed but it can easily be removed.

What does it look like without the passenger seat on? Does it require the passenger seat to help support it or is there enough support without it on?
