Default Low fuel light

Really dumb question but I can't find any answers searching. So far I have not run my bike down until the low fuel light comes on. When the light does come on how long do you have until you need to stop to get gas? Don't want to find out the hard way and run out.

Most people look for a station not to long after the light comes on.. " if you trust the light " .. I do.. I usually have just under a gallon left when the light comes on so in my case I don't push it much more than about 30 miles..

Thx, was just curious. My gauge is currently about half way through the red and the light still isn't on. Didn't know if when the light popped on I had 5 miles or 10. Work is only 14 miles away figuring the light is going to come on the way to work tomorrow or on the way home.

well, I ran my new-to-me RKC down to the light, not on purpose. I was literally in front of a gas station when the light came on. I put 4.993 gallons in the 5 gallon tank. glad i didn't have another mile or so to go.... I'd been pushing it.

no longer will I get that low.

Don't go by the gas needle gauge. they are notoriously Inaccurate,.. Best way to go is figure out what your mileage per gallon/tank is and go by your trip odometer..

All tanks run differently. Next time you fill up reset your trip and then ride until your light comes on. Then fill up immediately and you can figure out how much you had left by how much you put in. When the light on my Deluxe goes on I have almost exactly 1.5 gallons left. When the light on my Lo goes on, I have about .5 gallons left.

RKC have 6 gallon tanks least the 2011's do. You should have had another half gallon or gallon left.

Cool going to do that when it comes on which should be any time now.

Going to do that tomorrow sometime. Might take the back roads because there are more gas stations on them than going the highway. Just want to get a better idea of when I am going to need gas. My old bike I knew exactly how long I had.

Doesn't your bike tell you how many more miles you can get out of your tank. Mine does, and when I get under 10 miles left my clock automatically changes from time to miles left.

That is correct. Just test your's out. Mine comes on with about 40 showing on the 'r' odometer and I usually have about a gallon left. It's been really accurate after that. When you do any changes, pipes, intake etc, things will change.
