Default fatboy lo mustang seat install

greetings. I have the 2010 fatboy lo. I recently bought the (new?) mustang solo seat and frame cover install kit from JP cycles...the black seat with brown inserts. the seat and mount kit totaled 321 bucks. I like JP but if I had ordered direct from mustang it would have saved me 8 days on shipping time. the setup is simple to install. you have the option of mounting the seat in a forward or rearward position on the mount plate...I chose the rearward and had to drill two 5/16 holes for this. this was very clearly listed in the directions and there were even 2 indents where the holes were supposed to be. btw the quality I would call excellent...the frame cover was thick fiberglass with carpet glued to the bottom for frame protection. all hardware was included and the seat quality was excellent. once I drilled the holes for rear position and painted the cover denim black (it comes a very nice gloss black) bolting it together was simple and then the assembled unit simply replaces the stock seat. the entire thing took about an hour (denim black harley paint dries very fast). after installed my first impression was very positive...I loved the look. most friends did too, one didnt. I wish there were springs in the back but there arent. there is a nice gap evident under the seat and it's noticeably narrower than stock and much thinner. it is surprisingly comfortable for a thin seat....I honestly think I wouldn't have to get off of it between fuelings. the rear seat lip is lower so when you gun the bike you dont feel as secure lol. the biggest change was height...the kit raises you 1-1/2 to 2 inches so you are no longer on a "LO"....you're a bit more top heavy and that makes a noticable change in handling. also (I have the street slammer drag bars) your arms are lower so I'm a bit more forward leaning. My final thought was that I love the look and like the feel very much...switching back to the stock seat for very long rides (may not be necessary...don't know yet) would take 30 seconds....I like it.

Surgeon,
I like it! I think it is very tasteful and it flows nicely with the lines on the lo.

Highway pegs jump out at me a bit, but that's me.

thanks Jim....and I agree with the hiway peg thing...I have never liked them...I never even fold them down BUT they are very stiffly folded up so I can put my feet at the front of the floor board and those pegs hold my toes upright and I sometimes rest my heels on the peg pivot bracket...so they give me a couple of extra footing options...but as soon as I find something that will do that that looks better they are GONE. Thanks for the comment!
