That's what I sort of thought. Just trying to pinpoint what you were referring to turn signal . I put an led bulb in my taillight and since I had an extra bulb thought I would try it just in the back on my signals and see what it did. With the alarm system in my 04 it sensed the lack of load and though it was a burnt out bulb which causes 5 good flashes and 5 real fast flashes on my bike. Another problem I have seen on much older Harley's then yours is the round disk that separates the running and brake/signal wires breakers up and allows the small spring under the small button on the end of the wire that contacts the bottom of the bulb to get together or actual goes to ground You either get a blown fuse or a crazy light system. In your case I bet something pulled on the wire and pulled it down on the spring away from the bulb.
