Default Thoughts on a deuce purchase

Hey all,

Been reading the forum since I started looking for a harley, great place lots of info.

I wanted to get some opinions on a bike I'm looking at. It's at a dealer, it's a 2000 softail deuce, 23k miles, has v&h exhaust, a bunch of little genuine harley add ons. It's extremely clean, they actually had an 05 with 12k miles that didn't look as well kept up. I got them down to 8500 on it and just wondering if thats a good price? I've been looking and I'm seeing alot of 03-05's with 12-18k miles going for 12-14. Kind of apples to oranges but it makes me think the price is in line.

I think I'm having a hard time deciding what I want because I don't have my heart set on one thing. My wife actually talked me into getting a bike, and I've jumped around from street bobs, to wide glides, to the deuce now. Then my only like was black, but this bike is silver and it made me like the silver.

Oh well, any thoughts are appreciated.

Sounds like the price is fair, but hard for me to say because the canadian bikes are priced a little higher... As for having your heart set on one bike, if you're like most of us, you'll find a bike and just fall in love with it. Take a few out for a ride if you can, I know that helped me, but in the end, I knew there was no bike in the world I'd rather have then the one that I bought.

Don't count out the deluxe and FatBoy. I had a deuce and loved it but to be honest nothing is like my fatboy. Ride some and take your time. Good luck

Sounds like a fair price, bikes are all about condition, and always factor in what you would have to put into it to get it where you want. Sometimes a back that already has the stage 1 done, sissy bar, windshield etc. may be priced a little higher, that a bone stocker, but you may be looking at quite a bit in accessories. I have been seein Dueces on the used market around her bringing money in the 9K range.

I just bought a 2001 Deuce for $8k yesterday, so it seems like that is in the same ballpark pricewise, mine has 16k miles and several upgrades already installed. Havent been able to ride mine much, but I can't stay out of the garage staring at it since I bought it .

I'm weird, I like the fender on the deuce, I like the overall bike. The wideglide was very comfy, but I think a set of forward control extensions will put a deuce perfect comfort wise for me.

I'm like 90% sure I'll go get it tomorrow, but in a way I want to sit around and find that "awesome deal" out there. Being this is a luxury, I want to take my time, but at the same time I want to get something already.

I paid 8,000 for mine 2 years ago with a 2,000 trade in. It had about 7,000 miles on it. Sounds like you have a fair deal.

If the price is right then you can always re-sell it yourself. If you have a change of heart, that is. Might as well go for it. The season is here and you need to be riding something!
